Red Cross holds Flag Day for South Asia earthquake

The Gibraltar Branch of the British Red Cross will be holding a Flag Day next week to raise funds for its latest appeal launched for the victims of the South Asia earthquake.

The flag day will be held on Thursday and will be centred around the Piazza where volunteers and helpers are being asked to turn up on the day at 8.30am.

“Everyone is welcome to help out,” said treasurer Charles Montegriffo.

Meanwhile an account called South Asia Appeal Fund has been opened at Barclays Bank at 84-90 Main Street. The account number is 1100445.

If you are unable to donate during this Flag Day, you can also donate to this appeal online - The Disasters Emergency Committee have set up an urgent Appeal website to help in the Asian Earthquake Disaster.

The DEC was created in 1963. It brings together a unique alliance of the UK's aid, corporate, public and broadcasting sectors to rally the nation's compassion, and ensure that funds raised go to thirteen of the UK's major Aid agencies best placed to deliver effective and timely relief to people most in need. This includes the Red Cross.
