Gibraltar Dog Shows this weekend

Chief Minister Peter Caruana presenting 'Best in Show' prizes at last year's show 2004Nearly 1,000 dogs and their owners will be participating at the Gibraltar International Dog Shows on Saturday and Sunday organised by the Gibraltar Kennel Club.

A spokesman said:

“Gibraltar is probably the most successful show in the peninsula which has grown from strength to strength. It attracts a wide spectrum of countries as there will be dogs from all over Europe and travelling from as far as Canada and Russia.

129 breeds shall be represented with the Bulldog dominating the entries and a new record entry for the Club of 43 Bulldogs.

Other popular breeds this year are: Afghan Hounds, Chihuahuas, French Bulldogs, Yorkshire Terriers, Miniature Schnauzers, Golden Retriever, Boxers and Dachshunds.

All the dogs will be competing on both days with a panel of 12 International judges choosing a Best In Show.

The shows will be hosted at the Tercentenary Sports Hall with finals commencing at approximately 4:30 pm on both days. Entrance is free, however dogs will not be allowed in the Tercentenary Sports Hall other than to compete.”
