Welsh Guards on Parade

The Welsh Guards parade their Colours for HM the Queen at Horse Guards ParadeThe Welsh Guards are currently in Gibraltar for four weeks in order to take over duties from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment while they are away on Exercise Jebel Sahara.

A CBF spokesman said:

Soldiers from former 1/51 Highland Brigade practice attack exercises in the tunnels of Gibraltar
“The Welsh Guards will be completing tunnel warfare training as well as guarding military installations around the Rock.

They will also be carrying out The Convent Guard Mount at midday on Saturday 17th.”

The Environmental Safety Group organising Gibraltar's Clean up the World Weekend on 18th and 19th September 2005
Clean up the World Weekend

“Meanwhile as part of the "Clean Up the World" campaign, British Forces Gibraltar are spending Friday afternoon cleaning up areas round the Rock.

Volunteers are also taking part with members of the public over the Clean Up Gibraltar weekend.

The Clean Up on Friday will mainly take place at Europa Point between 11am and 2 pm.”

GSP Training

“The Gibraltar Services Police will be carrying out a two day training session in the area of the South Mole during today and tomorrow.

The aim of the exercise is to prepare GSP officers for dealing with security incidents.

Members of the public may see increased Police activity around the area on these dates and may hear blank ammunition being fired.”

Charity Car Boot Sale

Following the success of the SSAFA Car Boot Sale in May, British Forces Gibraltar is organising another Car Boot Sale on Navy Number 1 Car Park.

The Car Boot Sale will take place on Saturday 24th September between 9am and 2 pm and the £10 entrance fee will be given to Gibraltar Society for Cancer Relief

A CBF spokesman said:

“If you would like to join in, please phone 44771 to book your pitch.

There are only 105 pitches so book early to avoid disappointment. Each pitch is 3.5m wide so that you can set up tables around your car.

Navy Number 1 will be cleared of all cars not taking part in the Car Boot Sale and will be open from 8 am for people to set up their pitches.

Hot and cold refreshments will be available and this time BFBS radio will be supporting the event by providing music. Come along and see if you can find some bargains!”
