Frontier work-to-rule officially ended, says Spanish Police Union

Spanish Police Union work to rules have been causing serious delays at the Gibraltar Frontier during August. It is hoped the dispute will be over shortly.Spanish police trade union Sindicato Unificado de Policia has formally announced an end to the work to rule industrial action that was responsible for considerable frontier delays throughout August.

In a statement to the Chronicle yesterday a spokesman for SUP in La Linea said that following meetings at a national level with the Ministry for the Interior, there had been progress in the resolution of some of their grievances and added that all industrial “measures” were officially ended as from yesterday.

However the SUP spokesman said they would continue highlighting the deficiencies in infrastructure, equipment and manpower faced by the Policia Nacional in La Linea, and the need to improve the third world conditions at the frontier.
