DIY Constitution, says New Party

The recently formed party New Gibraltar Democracy has declared that the Chief Minister had failed to obtain advice from constitutional lawyers before presenting the draft new constitution.

According to leader Charles Gomez, the results of this "are painfully obvious."

Mr Gomez said:

"As we have previously pointed out the unnecessarily limiting description of Gibraltar invites arguments that the territory to be covered by the constitution does not include the isthmus or the waters around the Rock."

Meanwhile Mr Gomez added that some members of the constitutional committee have felt at a considerable disadvantage when dealing with the UK delegation which counts on proper technical expertise.
