British Airways Chief calls on the Chronicle

British Airways Chief Executive Sir Rod Eddington
British Airways head Sir Rod Eddington was in Gibraltar yesterday at the invitation of GB Airways president Joe Gaggero.

Sir Rod, who is retiring from BA this month but who continues as a director of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, came to see the first editions of the Gibraltar Chronicle and the unique copy of our famous ‘scoop’ on Nelson’s death and triumph at Trafalgar which will temporarily be on exhibition at the Casemates vault as from this week.

Sir Rod, a former Rhodes scholar, was born in Perth, and ran both Ansett Australia and Cathay Pacific before taking on BA.

He was knighted this year for his work in aviation. He is currently preparing an assessment of British transport infrastructure for the British Government.
