Britain highlights wishes of Gibraltarians

The United Kingdom approach on Gibraltar is constructive and based on dialogue in the trilateral forum, through which all could express their views.

That was the position as stated by Britain in response to declarations by Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos. Britain, said Simon Williams, the UK UN spokesman, stands, by the people of Gibraltar in respect of their wishes.

Sr Moratinos had backed the trilateral process but also pointed to bilateral discussions as the UN resolutions have regularly urged.

Sir Emyr Jones Parry - The British Ambassador to the United NationsSir Emyr Jones Parry, who was closely involved in the shared sovereignty discussions rejected by Gibraltar is the current UK Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
