Minister for Culture Fabian Vinet signs the contract for the performance by local band TAXI, during the forthcoming national week celebrations.

Taxi will be performing at Casemates Square on the evening of Thursday September 8th 2005.

This will be a free concert that forms part of a large number of events organised by the Ministry of Culture during National Week.

Taxi will be playing songs from their recent debut album “Libre” as well as material from their Melon Diesel back catalogue. Also appearing will be a support act which will be announced later this week.

Mr Vinet said:

“The proposal for the free concert came from Taxi, who approached Government offering to waive their professional fees as a means of thanking the local community for their support.

In exchange, Government will be providing and financing all the quality logistical support, including the stage, sound and lighting requirements.

The lead-up to National Day this year will be particularly spectacular. From the traditional Classical concert taking place at Saint Michael’s Cave on September 4th to this free concert by Taxi and live performances throughout National Day itself, Gibraltar’s will be well catered for with a variety of exciting events.”
