Bossano writes to Governor on Jamaica graves neglect

Reaction to Chronicle letter

Leader of the Opposition Joe Bossano has written to Governor Sir Francis Richards asking whether the UK Government is aware of the state of the cemetery in Jamaica, where dozens of Gibraltarians were buried during World War II.

This follows a letter in the Chronicle recently by Gibraltarian Anthony Clive Lara who after a trip to Jamaica drew attention to the inadequate conditions in which these persons are buried and publicly called on the local authorities to investigate the matter.

Mr Bossano is asking whether the matter has been brought to the attention of the UK Government so that “it can be looked into.”
