Navy trip for Channel 4 contestants

The Channel 4 TV Series “Coach Trip” visited Gibraltar last week as part of their tour round Europe.

“Coach Trip” is a Big Brother type TV series where couples volunteer to be part of a coach trip around Europe. In each episode the contestants get to vote a couple off.

A British Forces spokesman said:

HMS York at sea
“The contestants managed to see the Upper Rock and the world famous Apes and have lunch at a restaurant on Queensway Quay before being escorted on board naval destroyer HMS York. Members of the ship’s crew gave them an inside view of life in the Royal Navy.

They put on a fire demonstration and showed them around the ship which was berthed inside the Naval Base.

HMS York has just finished a 2-week joint maritime exercise off the coast of North West Scotland and is now heading to the Far East for a 20-week deployment. She will be accompanied throughout the deployment by Royal Fleet Auxiliary support Ship RFA Black Rover, who will provide support during the longer periods at sea.

The first series of “Coach Trip” has proved to be very popular and the Gibraltar programme will be part of the second series broadcast in November.”
