Montiel confident of UK Unions backing

MoD contractorisation

TGWU District Officer Luis Montiel was last night confident that the Union’s Biennial Delegates Conference in UK would back the local branch’s stand against contractorisation in the Ministry of Defence.

Speaking from the conference last night, Mr Montiel said there were several composite motions expressing opposition to the privatisation policies of the UK Labour Government that were being debated.

“We will be able to introduce a mention of the situation in Gibraltar so that we get the TGWU conference backing for our position,” said Mr Montiel.

The local delegation returns to Gibraltar later this week, and Mr Montiel expects to bring back formal support for the local campaign against contractorisation.
