Governor urges Gibraltar to remain vigilant

Sir Francis Richards, Governor and Commander in Chief, last night said that vigilance was being increased although there was no evidence of a greater risk.

“Following today’s appalling terrorist bombings in London, we have been reviewing the security situation in Gibraltar.

There is, at present, no evidence that Gibraltar is at any greater risk than usual. But as a precautionary measure I have asked the Police to increase their vigilance in sensitive areas.

I hope that members of the public will join in protecting our community by being especially alert, and by reporting to the Police any suspicious package or activity which they come across.”
