Crime ring 'nicks' burglar

A local man who pleaded guilty to the charge of burglary was sentenced to six weeks imprisonment this week.

Between the 16 and 17 April 2005 a burglary was committed at a flat in the area of New Passage where a number of gold rings, gold pendants, a portable DVD player, a pair of sunglasses and a mobile phone were stolen.

The matter was reported to police and an investigation was instigated.

CID officers whilst investigating another matter interviewed Kenneth Martinez, 31. On being interviewed the officers realised that he was wearing two rings which matched those stolen at the flat at New Passage. He was then arrested on suspicion of burglary and a search warrant was executed at his residence and other property from the burglary was seized.
