Commonwealth Youth Training courses

The Government of Gibraltar through the Gibraltar Youth Service is offering two places, one male and one female, for young people aged between 18 and 25 years, to take part in the Commonwealth Youth Forum taking place in Malta in November this year.

The opportunity is open to young people who play an active part in the running and development of an NGO in Gibraltar.

A GYS spokesman said:

“The theme of the conference is “Networking for Development” and will look at a variety of issues including sustainable development, good governance, health and sexuality and enterprise.

Participants will have the opportunity to take part in presentations and discussions, recommendations and action plans for the future that they will then present to those heads of Governments taking part in the Commonwealth heads of government meeting that takes place parallel to the conference.

Participation in this conference offers an excellent opportunity for two local representatives to contribute to and learn from the plethora of experiences and issues that affect their peers throughout the world.

The candidates chosen for the conference will have to present to their respective organisations and peers the results of their participation and the findings and conclusions of the conference.”

The Government of Gibraltar will meet all the expenses incurred for both local representatives to attend this event.

For more information on the above contact Jimmy Felices at 75020 or voicemail 78637.
Application forms for those interested in taking part are available at the Youth Office between 9am and 2pm between Monday and Friday. Closing date for applicants will be 2pm on Friday 29 July at the Youth Office. The Youth Welfare Grants Committee in consultation with the Gibraltar Youth Service will select the candidates.
