Spanish National remanded in custody

A Spanish national was remanded in custody at the Magistrates Court yesterday on several charges of theft and forgery, until his next court appearance.

An RGP spokesman said:

“As a result of a joint operation between uniformed officers, the CID and the Financial Crime Unit of the RGP, a Spanish national was arrested while coming through the frontier last Thursday evening.” “Andres Martinez Cana from La Linea, aged 19, was later questioned with regards involvement in numerous thefts from motor vehicles and the use of a stolen cheque-book to purchase items of jewellery. The property was later recovered by the police.

Martinez Cana was charged with four counts of theft from motor vehicles, three counts of causing damage to motor vehicles and three counts of obtaining property on a forged instrument.”
