PSOE Government confident of cross-border progress

Spanish Government has said it is confident that the joint use of the Gibraltar airport and pensions issues will be resolved in the mid-term.

Speaking before the Senate commission on Foreign Affairs in Madrid, Minister Moratinos defended the “politics of dialogue on a three way basis,” with Britain and Gibraltar as the way to move forward on the problems related to the colony.

Sr Moratinos emphasised to the commission that none of this nor the drive for cross-border cooperation, would undermine the Spanish sovereignty claim which, he added, “we all have to fight for and share.” He said the PSOE Government had not at any moment renounced to “the essential question of sovereignty.”
