Spanish Police urge Interior Minister to worry about them too

Spanish National police (Policia Nacional) union has declared that whilst they welcome the interest being taken by Madrid in improving the frontier flow they feel that officials should also come down and see the practical problems they face in their work.

They point to huge shortages of police officers - only six where there should be 25. They seek a commitment from officials that the proper complement will be filled and that they will have their “third world” facilities replaced.

“We would like to say to the current Interior Minister (Ministerio de Interior) that it is all very well that he is interested in the frontier queues but he could take a spin around here and have a little more interest in the police facilities.”
