PSOE defeats PP motion against Moratinos

The Andalusian parliament (Junta de Andalucia) has rejected a motion presented by the Partido Popular condemning Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos for his handling of the Gibraltar question.

The motion was defeated by the PSOE majority.

The PP had tried to accuse Sr Moratinos of fracturing Spain’s historic policy on Gibraltar by accepting to set aside the sovereignty claim in the current process of dialogue.

The motion criticised the inclusion of the Gibraltar Government in negotiations while excluding Campo representatives, namely the mayors of La Linea and San Roque.
