Dispute continues after Government-Firemen meeting

Representatives of the TGWU and the striking firemen yesterday held a reunion with the Gibraltar Government to discuss the on-going industrial dispute at the City Fire Brigade.

According to Union sources, the meeting with Chief Secretary Ernest Montado had been “a disappointment,” and as a result the firemen had decided to revert back to a state of industrial dispute that had been suspended in anticipation of yesterday’s meeting.

Meanwhile, according to a Convent Place spokesman, the object of the meeting had been to explain to the Union the merits of the offer that is on the table, which the Government views as final.
