Philatelic issues Gastronomy Stamps

The Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau has issued its latest stamp set on gastronomy.

The set of four stamps depict different recipes passed down through the generations locally and which are still very much a part of the community and remain some of its favourite dishes.

The Philatelic Bureau in its press release yesterday stated that while there is both Spanish and British influence, the ethnic origins of most Gibraltarian recipes are mainly Genoese, Maltese and Portuguese.

The stamps depict the following popular dishes: Torta de Acelga (Spinach Pie) from Genoa, the Robalo a la parilla (grilled sea-bass) originates from Portugal, the Rolitos de ternera (veal birds) from Malta, and Sherry Trifle from Britain.
