No negotiations with SPanish Divers, says Government

Convent Place last night denied remarks by Mancomunidad President Juan Montedeoca that the Gibraltar Government was drafting specific regulations to regulate access to local waters by Campo diving clubs.

Sr Montedeoca had claimed that this was a matter being considered by the Government-Mancomunidad Comision Mixta.

In reply to Chronicle questions a Convent Place spokesman said:

“The Government notes a statement made by the Mancomunidad de Municipios which some people in Gibraltar have interpreted as meaning that the Government is negotiating or intending to negotiate some sort of agreement relating to Spanish divers. The Government knows nothing about this. There are no such negotiations and none are intended or foreseen.”
