Gibraltar Tourist Board launches Travel Award in Spain

Gibraltar Tourist Board (GTB) is to launch a journalism travel award in Spain.

The award will complement the success of the Ed Lacy Gibraltar Travel Award, which is held every year in the UK.

The award is open to all those journalists who publish or broadcast a piece on Gibraltar during 2005 in the travel and tourism press in Spain, on radio, television and on the Internet.

Entries will be judged by a team approved by the GTB.

The award will carry a prize of £1000 and trophy which will be presented by Minister for Tourism Joe Holliday at FITUR tourism fair in Madrid in January 2006.

Minister Holliday said:

“The Spanish travel and tourism press is very supportive of Gibraltar and over the last few years have shown a great interest in Gibraltar as a tourist destination.

We feel that this incentive can only enhance the work that is already carried out in journalism circles in Spain and will serve as another way in which to sell Gibraltar’s tourism product.”
