Gibraltar an elevated risk country - Insurance Experts

Gibraltar shares the same ‘elevated’ level of risk from terrorism as most of Europe and Morocco but Southern Ireland, Portugal, Ceuta and Melilla do not share such high a risk with us.

That is the assessment of Aon the insurance and risk management company. In addition the map which can be accessed on (pdf file) points out the high risk choke points like the Strait of Gibraltar run in that these are “vulnerable major shipping channels that terrorists might seek to block by the acquisition, targeting or hijack of a tanker and subsequent sabotage. A blockage would significantly impact world trade, particularly the supply and price of oil,” it says.

Greenland and Iceland are about as safe as one gets – from terrorism.
