Bail in George’s Lane Drugs case

Two British nationals resident at George’s Lane were released on bail of £3,000 yesterday after appearing in court on drugs charges.

Following a police operation on April 13 which also involved the use of Customs sniffer dogs, Peter Barrett 39, of 11/2 George’s Lane was arrested for possession of two ecstasy tablets.

Caroline Howard, 36, was arrested in the course of a search of the residence for possession of a small amount of cannabis.

Following the search the two were charged with possession and intent to supply some 12 grams of cocaine; simple possession of 12 grams of cocaine; possession with intent to supply 37.6 grams of cannabis resin and simple possession of this cannabis.

Howard was also charged with possession of five Class C drugs and possession of 4.5 grams of cannabis.

Barrett was charged with possession of two ecstasy tablets.

The couple are required to report weekly to police and have surrendered their travel documents. Police value the drugs at £900.
