MoD helps out small boat owners

Queen’s Harbour Master has given permission for a number of small boats to be berthed temporarily at Cormorant Camber ahead of its transfer to the Government, following damage to the pontoons at Western Beach during the recent strong winds and high seas, an MoD spokesman said yesterday.

Cormorant Chamber will eventually become a permanent base for small boats once the works at Gun Wharf are completed by the local Government’s contractor, allowing the MoD's Marine Services Group to relocate.

Meanwhile, members of the Joint Logistics Unit and the QHM assisted the Port Authority and Small Boat Owners Association in providing emergency securing arrangements for the more threatened pontoons and craft.
