Military Chief's visit ‘not linked to cuts' - MoD

Commander Joint Operations, Air Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy - Visiting Gibraltar for the first timeCommander Joint Operations, Air Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy, is visiting Gibraltar for the first time and will make a number of office calls during this morning.

He was due to make his initial visit to the Rock in January but the visit was postponed as a result of the death of Commodore David White.

During his programme he will spend time with the Governor, the Chief Minister, Commander British Forces and other members of British Forces Gibraltar.

“He invited the Trades Unions to meet with him during his visit but they have currently withdrawn from the Whitley process and therefore felt unable to accept the offer. His visit does not herald further announcements on privatisation plans or on any other issue,” said MoD.
