Weekend arrests

Royal Gibraltar Police officers made several arrests over the weekend.

On Friday morning RGP were called in to deal with a fight at the Laguna Bar. Two arrests on suspicion of assault followed.

One person has been bailed pending further investigation, the other , Guillermo Lopez Castro, 24, unemployed of 3 Portland House was detained and a search of his residence carried out.

He was later charged with common assault, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of 8g of cannabis, importing a prohibited import and possession of 2 x 2 Roche Diazepam tablets.

In a separate incident on Friday drugs officers from the RGP executed a search warrant at 320 Ocean Heights. David Thomas Kelly, 35, a scaffolder resident at that address was arrested after the police seized some 42g cannabis, two ecstasy tablets and seven diazepam tablets.

Wounding Charge

Just after 1am on Saturday morning RGP officers attended a disturbance at Corks Wine Bar and subsequently arrested Antonio Gaiviso, 27, no fixed abode, on suspicion of wounding. RGP claim the man became violent and brandished a knife and threatened
with it. He was charged with wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on police.
