Holliday launches Trafalgar Stamps

Joe Holliday Tourism Minister yesterday opened the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau’s launch of their Trafalgar Bicentenary stamp and an exhibition at the Casemate’s vault. This has been a world first for Gibraltar.

Mr Holliday humorously admitted that although he worked alongside the well-known philatelist Richard Garcia he was no expert. But he expressed an appreciation for the long history of editing of stamps and congratulated Glendon Martinez, head of the Philatelic Bureau, for being behind the initiative for the exhibition and Steven Vinales was singled out for the effort he had put into the project.

Mr Holliday noted with some awe the special feature of the stamp in it containing wood particles from HMS Victory.
