GibTelecom links patients with the community

Gibtelecom has donated 68 telephone sets to the Elderly Care Agency for the benefit of our senior citizens.

As a result every bedroom will have a telephone for incoming calls during the day and early evening.

This sponsorship is additional to the 220 bedside telephone sets already provided to the Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) for use in the new St. Bernard’s Hospital.

A Gibtelecom spokesman said that the Company was delighted to support the Elderly Care Agency and the GHA, particularly as the GHA had shown confidence in the Company by selecting Gibtelecom for the installation of their telephone systems, structured wiring, and other telecommunications needs.

At the GHA this included:-

· Category 6 Data Cable Network with over 2,200 outlets
· The installation of over 150 km of cables
· A fibre backbone network
· An IP PABX with 80 IP and over 300 Analogue extensions
· 1 GHz switched Ethernet network providing connectivity to over 900 devices with complete resilience

A team of over twenty Gibtelecom employees have been working day and night over many months to complete tasks in time for the relocation of the new hospital and the Mount Alvernia extension.
