Victor Chandler boosts Red Cross account by £150,000

International bookmakers Victor Chandler - vcbet – yesterday presented a cheque for £150,000 to the Gibraltar Branch of the Red Cross to add to the thousands of pounds already collected for the South East Asia Tsunami disaster appeal.

Last week Victor Chandler guaranteed a minimum donation of £150,000 based on bets placed on the internet and telephone – over seven days £1 from every bet placed with vcbet was donated to the account.

At the time Chairman Victor Chandler commented on how everyone had been affected in one way or another by this terrible tragedy.

“We felt that we wanted to make some contribution to the Disaster Emergency Committee co-ordinating the fund raising for UK based charities which includes the British Red Cross, Cafod, Oxfam, Save the Children Fund, Tearfund, Christian Aid and Action Aid,” he said.

The cheque was presented at the Convent to the Gibraltar Red Cross President Lady Richards. Also present were Chairman Tony Lombard, Treasurer Charlie Montegriffo, and Secretary Eddie Davis. The cheque was presented by Victor Chandler Managing Director W. D. Andrewes.
