Eleven floats and more for the Three Kings Cavalcade

Eleven Floats are set to participate in the 2005 Three Kings Cavalcade but the committee is confident the number of participants could be even higher.

The Cavalcade will start at 7.30 tonight and make its way up Main Street from Casemates where all floats will be judged prior to their departure – and what to look out for this year – a certain Lord of the Rings, funky fairies and a character called Shrek! There will be three bands including the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, Sea Scouts and the First/Fourth Scout Band, the Drum Majorettes, display of various cars, and Miss Gibraltar followed by her two princesses as well as other models and beauty queens who will also be taking part.

Yesterday a spokesman for the committee said it was grateful to all those organisations that would be participating tonight.

“This year the committee has found it extremely difficult to find covered space for organisations to build their floats as a result of this, two organisations who were willing to participate, had to withdraw,” added the spokesman. The Cavalcade will again have to turn into Cathedral Square by the Holy Trinity..

The Committee added the spokesman was again disappointed with the route and the fact that the Cavalcade would not be able to parade down the whole of Main Street.

“The Committee cannot understand why buses full of passengers are allowed to travel through that area of Main Street and yet the Cavalcade is not allowed through,” claimed the spokesman.
