Burglary at Casino Calpe

RG Police yesterday arrested a Gibraltarian and a Moroccan national who had earlier broken into the Casino Calpe and stolen over £2,600 from various gaming machines. The two men were identified as Aziddin El Habali and Peter Macias.

An RGP spokesman said:
“At about 0600hrs on Tuesday 4th January 2005 Police attended to the Casino Calpe where there was a burglary in progress. On entering the building two persons were seen exiting the top floor window thus making good their escape. These persons were identified as being Aziddin El Habali of 72 Constitution House and Peter Macias of 10/2 Road to the Lines.”
“A scene of crime examination was duly carried out where it was noticed that damage had been caused to three gaming machines and £2635 in monies had been taken. A search of the defendants was mounted and subsequently they were arrested on suspicion of Burglary. Search warrants were executed at their respective residences. They were later charged with the offence and appeared in court where they were remanded in custody.”


Meanwhile RG Police thwarted an attempted burglary at the Aragon Bar in Bell Lane in the early hours of Tuesday January 4th 2005. On arrival officers established that damage had been caused to the window and its iron grill. Police said a search of the immediate area resulted in the arrest of three persons namely Luke Hazel of 6/3 Lime Kiln Steps, Christian Chipolina of 10 Rosia Steps and Michelle Vinet of 26/5 Flat Bastion Road. Further enquiries revealed the identity of a fourth person as that of Jordan Martinez of 2 Aquitania House who was subsequently arrested. The defendants were later charged with the offence of Attempted Burglary and bailed out to appear at the Magistrates Court. Currently they are on court bail.
